Les lieux-dits sont des lieux généralement ruraux, nommés le plus souvent à l'origine par les habitants du secteur,  et dont l'appellation fait référence à une personne, une particularité géographique, botanique ou autre, un événement particulier qui concerne cet emplacement. Le lieu-dit ne se définit donc qu'à travers le filtre de sa perception par l'homme, sa mémoire,  son histoire et sa culture. C'est un élément symbolique de la présence et de l'attachement de l'humain à la terre, et de son occupation parfois envahissante. Il existe grâce à et pour l'habitant et son sens ou son essence même disparaissent pour l'inhabitant. Si les lieux changent profondément ou si les habitants disparaissent,  le lieu-dit ne sera plus qu'un témoignage, un élément de langage dans la mémoire de quelques inhabitants...

The localities are generally rural places, most often originally named by the inhabitants of the area, and whose name refers to a person, a geographical, botanical or other particularity, a special event that concerns this location. The place-name is thus defined only through the filter of its perception by man, his memory, his history and his culture. It is a symbolic element of the presence and attachment of humans to the land, and of its sometimes invasive occupation. It exists thanks to and for the inhabitant and its meaning or its very essence disappears for the unhabitant. If the places change profoundly or if the inhabitants disappear, the place-name will only remain a testimony, an element of language in the memory of some unhabitants...
